- Description
- This music was conceived, after seeing a poppy that had been worn by someone, now lying, squashed, on the forecourt of our church, the day after Remembrance Sunday.
It struck me, that this ws like the image of a fallen soldier. I came home and wrote a poem on the subject, which inspired this vocal piece. It was conceived for counter tenor, but could equally be sung by contralto or mezzo.
I subsequently arranged it so that the poem may be read, over the music. This may be suitable for an occasion where a singer is not available, or this kind of arrangement is preferred.
The original vocal version is also available.
